Fun and engaging crafts for kids that inspire creativity and learning through hands-on activities.
Materials Needed:
Construction paper (blue, green, and brown)
Paper plates
Markers or crayons
Glue stick
Kid-safe scissors
Cotton balls
Stickers (optional)
1. Create the Ocean:
Start with a paper plate as your base.
Color or paint the bottom half of the plate blue to make the ocean. Let your little one swirl the colors around to make waves.
2. Add the Beach:
Cut a strip of brown construction paper and glue it along the edge of the “ocean” to make the sandy beach ( Encourage your child to draw little sand dots or seashells with markers).
3. Make Malin’s Boat:
Draw a simple boat shape on a piece of brown construction paper.
Help your child cut it out and glue it onto the blue part of the plate.
Add a triangle sail with colorful construction paper for a fun touch!
4. Decorate with Cotton Clouds:
Take a few cotton balls and fluff them up to look like clouds.
Glue them to the top part of the plate for a dreamy sky.
5. Add Fun Details:
Let your child use markers or crayons to draw birds in the sky or fish in the water.
Add stickers of sea creatures if you have them for an extra bit of fun.
6. Story Time!
Once the craft is finished, sit down with your child and tell a simple version of the Malin Kundang story.
Point to the boat and ocean as you share the tale, making it interactive and engaging.
